When children begin attending school in Kindergarten they enter an important new stage of development that continues through roughly 6th grade (age 11). Confronted with the novelty of school, children should begin to develop and mature socially; gain new skills; grow more independent and responsible; and become ever more fully realized individuals.
As with all our youth activities, those targeted at school age children are intended combine fun with support for important developmental milestones to supplement the efforts of their teachers, especially in areas difficult to emphasize in a school setting due to time or other needs.View School Age Events
The Youth Services Department of the Defiance Public Library System seeks to support the development of school age children through classes and events that provide opportunities for social interaction; build competence and confidence through new skills; and encourage creativity and independent thought to develop their interests and personalities.
