Know-it-Now is a completely free service that offers you a live librarian to answer any question literally 24 hours a day/7 days a week. (No, really.) Just log on through a browser and chat live with a librarian or text a question to a live librarian. We’ll answer anything from math problems to biography questions to who the heck invented sticky notes.

OMG, need an actual book? Check if we’ve got it before you come in. See the box marked 'Library Catalog' up in the right-hand corner of the page? Just enter in a search term and click 'Search Catalog.' Click on a title that looks of interest and you can see whether it is checked in at your location. (Tip: the green check marks tell you that the title is owned by your library)

Any of the free audiobooks, music, and eBooks that you download for free from our catalog can be downloaded immediately to your smartphone for listening or reading. You can even search our iDownloads catalog through your mobile browser, check out any free items you want, then download them immediately without ever setting foot in the library (or even in the state).

PubMed Mobile (CRinUS):
Search PubMed database with over 19 million citations for biomedical articles and life science journals. Save and email queries, citations, and link to full articles if available.

Evernote is an easy-to-use, free app that helps you remember everything across all of the devices you use. Multpile Formats:
Audiobooks:
All the book, half the work. Pop the CDs into your car or player, press play. It does everything but write the report for you and you can listen while you get other stuff done. Most any title can be found in audiobook form. Just search Book on CD on the catalog or call and ask.
e-Books:
DPLS has a full collection of downloadable eBooks. They work with computers (PCs or Macs), smartphones (iPhones or Droids), or eReaders (Nooks, Kobos, iPads, etc.). Get to them by clicking the iDownloads tab on our catalog. Search, download, and it returns itself (no late fees).
Playaways:
Playaways are MP3 players with a full audiobook pre-loaded on it. Smaller than an iPod, just plug in your earbuds and go. No CDs or waits for downloads. To find them, come into the library and check out our digital media collection or, on our online catalog, narrow your search by selecting ‘Book on Digital Player.’
Downloadable Audiobooks:
Download audiobooks straight to your computer or smartphone and begin listening immediately. On your browser click the iDownloads tab on our library catalog, search for your book and download it. For your smartphone, download the Overdrive App (see App’s card in this packet) and download from there.

Okay, if you actually need a real book, we’ve still got those, along with the latest movies and cds too. Totally free. Enter whatever you’re looking for into the catalog box on the right side of the page.
Wild Animal Survival Tactics:
Black Bears:
Do not run because that will trigger an attack response ◊Keep all your movements slow and deliberate ◊ Do not approach the animal ◊ Pick up small children so they will not be perceived as prey ◊ Bang pots and pans together or make other loud noises ◊ Wave your arms above your head to make yourself appear larger ◊ Leave an escape route open so the bear won’t feel cornered and forced to fight its way out of the situation ◊Move upwind of the bear so it can identify your scent as human (not its normal prey)
Cougars:
Stop and stand tall. Do not run ◊ Try to appear larger than the cougar ◊ Never take your eyes off the animal or turn your back ◊ Do not crouch down or try to hide ◊ If the animal displays aggressive behavior, shout, wave your arms and throw rocks ◊ If the cougar attacks, stay on your feet. If you go down, you’re in trouble ◊ Fight back aggressively with anything you can get your hands on (knife, club, backpack, rocks, etc.) Gouge your fingers into the cat’s eyes ◊ Fight for your life with as much violence as you can muster
Teachers in Public:
Do not run, Teachers can sense fear and may attack ◊ Do not play dead as the teacher may try resuscitation techniques to bring you back to life (which could be embarrassing in public) ◊ Try to appear larger, they may mistake you for an older sibling ◊ Make loud, obnoxious noises so the teacher will not want to be seen with you in a public place ◊ The appropriate response to any question posed is “I am on my way to the library to work on your project right now”
