Event Details

Children and families are invited to join Wendy Baker from the Defiance Soil and Water Conservation District under the Summer Reading Tent on the Fort Grounds at Defiance Public Library on July 7 at 6PM for “Batty about Bats!” No registration is needed.

Bats are found in nearly every habitat on the planet benefitting humans by eating tons of harmful insects as well as pollinating and spreading seeds for many trees and plants we use as food. Every year bats save us billions of dollars in pest control. Bats are also cool to learn about and in desperate need of our help. We’ll use our science skills to look closer at Ohio’s 14 bat species. We’ll learn of threats to these amazing Ohio mammals and how we can take steps to help save them and create our own batty art project!
