Bevins Wins Award for Worthington Article

We’re thrilled to announce that Defiance College history student (& former Defiance Public Library intern) Alexandra Bevins has received one of Bowling Green State University’s Local History Publication Awards for her article, “The Worthington Project: A Documentary History” written in connection with an assignment for her undergraduate program.

Bevins will present her work at BGSU’s Jerome Library during a public talk on Oct. 29 at 4:15PM. Congratulations, Alexandra!

The Worthington Cemetery Project was a long-running effort led by DPL’s Sarah Marshall & Renee Hopper to identify and properly mark Defiance County’s only known historic Black cemetery. You can read more about the project here.

A group, Friends of Worthington Cemetery has formed to continue this important work, so be sure to follow them on Facebook for more updates.
