Welcome!

Welcome to the all-new Defiance Public Library System blog! Thanks for stopping by! Here, we’ll share information and updates from your Defiance County libraries, helpful resources, stories and photos of the fun we’re having in our buildings, occasional library humor (it’s better than it sounds, I promise), and top-secret government information. (One of the aforementioned things actually WON’T appear on this blog; we’ll leave you to guess which…)

So many things are more difficult to navigate these days, but we’re working to make sure that your libraries are easier to use than ever. Here’s how:

  1. Farewell to fines! To promote broader access for all, DPLS has gone fine free. All accrued overdue fines have been forgiven, too. (Lost and damaged fees do still apply.)
  2. Eligible items now renew automatically up to FOUR times. (Excludes homebound/classroom/homeschool cards, items with holds, browsing collections, Baker & Taylor, and mobile hotspots.)
  3. Keeping your distance? Curbside service is available by appointment in the mornings at all three locations. Click here to find out more.
  4. Our Mobile Express Route is on the move! Click the snazzy van on our homepage to see where the bookmobile will pop up next.
DPLS Teen Librarian Pam Kranenburg loads up the Bookmobile, preparing to hit the road!

In-person programming is suspended for now, but until we can see your smiling faces grouped together once again, check our socials and calendar for virtual offerings and updates.

Be well! Read books!
