Children’s Room at JML Gets a Makeover: See the Photos

The Children’s Room at Hicksville’s Johnson Memorial Library was closed to the public from Aug. 26-29 to allow staffers Amber and Karlee to give the space a makeover. The results were revealed Monday, Aug. 30!

First, let’s take a look at what the room looked like before Amber and Karlee got to work:

The Children’s Room at Johnson Memorial Library is pictured prior to cosmetic updates that took place in the space Aug. 26-29, 2021.

In addition to painting a cheerful, bright blue accent wall, staff added classic children’s artwork and vinyl trees to the walls, decorated a gaming area for tweens, and added a local history display to the nonfiction section. There, patrons can view original building blueprints, as well as newspaper clippings featuring the library and its past staff members. New plants, updated signage, and a comfy “pea pod” to lounge in all work to bring life to the room. Let’s take a look!

A work in progress. Check out that color!

Pictured are some of the historical documents and materials now on display in the space.

Thanks for all your hard work, Karlee and Amber!
Ta daa! The finished product–a perfect space for kids and tweens!
