If you’ve driven by Defiance Public Library recently (or if you follow us on Facebook), you might have noticed a new addition to the outside of the building. That’s the Plant Library: a community project we are happy to house! Community members are invited to stop by and leave plants or bulbs they don’t need, and take what they will use. Be sure to label your plants or bulbs, so everyone knows what they’re getting!
Materials to build the Plant Library were purchased with a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), secured by Defiance Elementary School teacher Julie Houck. The cart itself was built and delivered by the Defiance Dream Center. Pictured below are project co-coordinators Houck (right) and Renee Hopper, DPLS’ adult, teen, & technical services manager, with the Plant Library!
Now, it’s up to you to get this off the ground, so bring us your bulbs!
I love this idea! Great job ladies.
Is it just for outdoor plants? Or can I leave rooted cuttings of house plants too?
House plants are welcome too!
